Saturday, 11 November:
Arrivals/Welcome Party at Coco Reef Hotel

  • 9 am to 1 pm: Watercolour Workshop hosted by Poppy Balser at Coco Reef (prearranged registration)
  • 4 pm: Registration desk will open
  • 4 to 7 pm: Stamping of canvases/boards/paper (stamping will also be available on site for each paint session, first hour of painting only)
  • Collection of any pre-ordered art supplies and frames, welcome bags and name badges.
  • Purchase of any additional dinner, lunch or tea tickets. Please note: On site Only cash will be accepted for additional purchases of dinners/lunches/tea. (Tickets for dinners/lunch/tea will not be sold after tonight.) This is the last time you will be able to purchase lunches/teatime/dinners.
  • 5 to 7 pm: Welcome Cocktail Party, Coco Reef Hotel

Sunday, 12 November:
South Shore, Coral Beach & Tennis Club

  • 9.30 am: Coco Reef pick up for prearranged transport
  • 10 am to 11 am: Stamping of canvases and paper
  • 10 am to 3 pm: Paint out all day
  • 12:30 pm: Box Lunch provided for those who pre-paid.
  • 3:15 pm: Return transportation to Coco Reef (prearranged)
  • A free night for painters

 


Monday, 13 November:
Private Home: Orange Grove, Smith’s Parish

A family home for  many generations, current owners, William and Dawn Zuill are opening Orange Grove to the Plein Air Festival. Orange Grove features Bermuda classic architecture and rolling grounds, cottages and farming land. Bill is current president of the Bermuda National Trust. (Directions for those driving: watch for signs for Orange Grove across Middle Road, opposite Whitney Institute.)

  • 9.30 am: Coco Reef pick up for prearranged transport
  • 10 to 11 am: Stamping
  • 10 am to 3 pm: Paint out all day
  • 12:30 pm: Box Lunch provided for those who pre-paid.
  • 3:15 pm: Pick up for prearranged transport back to Coco Reef
  • 6 pm: Pick up at Coco Reef for prearranged transport
  • 6:15 to 9:30 pm: Cockatails and bufet dinner at Beau Rivage at The Newstead, with dinner at 7:30 pm. (Ticketed/pre-paid event). Hamilton Harbour views will light up at this evening event as we kick off the week’s painting. Transportation back to hotel at 9:45 pm.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday, 14 November:
Urban Painting, City of Hamilton

  • 9 am: Coco Reef pick up for prearranged transport
  • 9.30 to 10.30 am: Stamping at drop-off point: Bermuda Library, Queen Elizabeth Park (Formerly Par la Ville Park)
  • 9.30 am to 4 pm: Paint out all day: Enjoy painting in the City of Hamilton, your choice of location.
  • Lunch on your own.
  • Bermuda National Gallery and the Bermuda Society of the Arts (BSoA) will be open for your enjoyment in the City Hall.
  • 4.30 to 6 pm (Optional): Gallery 117, 117 Front Street, for cocktails, snacks and viewing of work by featured artist, Chuck Olson, as well as work by local artists.
  • 5 to 7 pm: DNA Art shop will be open for any art supply needs.
  • 6 pm: Night painting session in City of Hamilton: Location of your choice on Front Street
  • 9 pm: Transport back to the hotel from the Flagpole on Front Street. (Miss the the 9 pm pickup? Hail a taxi from Front Street.) For those artists with data on their phones, check out Hitch.bm, Bermuda’s ride share app.

Wednesday, 15 November:
Dockyard & Commissioner’s House

  • 9.30 am: Coco Reef pickup for prearranged transport
  • 10 to 11 am: Stamping at Clocktower.
  • 10 am to 3 pm: Paint out all day anywhere in the Dockyard area, your choice of the Clock Tower, marina, Commissioner’s House and ramparts (wear Festival nametag for access to Commissioner’s House and ramparts)
  • Lunch on your own at one of the many venues in Dockyard.
  • 4 to 5 pm: Tea served at Dockyard Arts Centre. (Ticketed/pre-paid event)
  • 5.15 pm: Pick up from Dockyard Arts Centre for prearranged transport back to Coco Reef; Ferry or buses back to Hamilton for those who wish to return to Hamilton.
  • Free evening

Thursday, 16 November:
Quick Art Competition in St. George’s

  • 8.30 am: Coco Reef Pick Up for prearranged transport.
  • 9.30 to 10.30 am: Stamping at drop-off point, Town Hall
  • You are free to paint anywhere in the St George’s area.
  • Not painting? Consider joining the Town Crier of St. George’s for a walking tour of the city, 9:30 am, Town Hall. (FEE required, pay to Town Crier on-site).
  • Noon to 1 pm Deadline for Quick Art competition drop-off at Town Hall. All work must be framed, ready to hang and left for collection. Completed Quick Art entry and label form MUST on the back of the painting. Only one piece can be submitted. Nothing will be accepted after 1 pm.
  • Lunch on your own after the quick art, with time to enjoy the shops.
  • 2.30 pm: Pick up for prearranged transport back to Coco Reef from Town Square.
  • Free evening to enjoy on your own.

    Points of interest in St George’s:

     If you are visiting St George’s, which has several National Trust properties, we are sure you will will love Stewart Hall and Samaritan’s Cottages, which are both a little bit off the beaten track.

Friday, 17 November:
FREE DAY and Dinner at Woodhaven, home of Vivienne Gardner, 134 Harbour Road, Paget (ticketed/pre-paid event)

Enjoy a free day and evening to finish and frame your work for the festival exhibition, or find new locations on your own.

  • 5:15 pm: Coco Reef pickup for prearranged transport
  • 5.30 to 9.30 pm: Cocktails and dinner gathering for those who have pre-paid. After a fun filled week, enjoy a relaxed buffet dinner with all your new friends, fellow artists, and sponsors at Woodhaven, home of Vivienne Gardner, one of our own Bermuda Plein Air Artists. (Ticketed/pre-paid event) For those driving, watch for turning for Woodhaven on your left, after you pass Dinghy Club on Harbour Road coming out of Hamilton/away from town. Parking for locals at garden level of house and on Harbour Road with shuttle service to the top of the hill.
  • 10 pm: Pick up for prearranged transport back to Coco Reef Hotel.


Saturday, 18 November:
Plein Air Art Festival Finale, Bermuda Society of Arts, City Hall

  • Artists can submit none (0) up to five (5) entries in the General Exhibition. All entries must have two (2) entry forms attached on the back, clearly indicating in which medium they are to be entered. Only work for sale will be accepted.
  • 8 to 9.30 am: Artist work collected from Coco Reef Hotel. Please hand in all work for hanging. Work will be taken to BSoA.
  • 9 to 10 am: All other artists to take their entries to the BSOA no later than 10 am for hanging in the Festival Exhibition. All entries must have two entry forms attached, clearly indicating in which category they are to be entered. Only work for sale will be accepted.
  • All work must be collected and submitted by 10 am
  • Noon to 3:30 pm: Judging (Gallery closed)
  • 4 to 7.30 pm: Exhibition open to Public Opening
  • 5:30 pm: All prizes awarded
  • 7.30 pm: Collection of all artwork not sold. Artists must collet and sign-out their unsold work and remove it from BSoA.
  • 8:30 to 9 pm: Pick up for prearranged transport back to Coco Reef Hotel OR enjoy dinner on your own in the City of Hamilton (making your own way home post-dinner).
